King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima have remembered the war dead on National Remembrance Day.

They were present during the memorial meeting in the Nieuwe Kerk, where Dido Michielsen spoke. Afterwards, the King and Queen laid a wreath at the National Monument on the Dam.

The National Remembrance is for remembering the war dead everywhere in the Kingdom of the Netherlands since the start of the Second World War. A two-minute silence followed at exactly 8 p.m.
