King Harald to reduce amount of royal duties

Vaino Rensberg/Sametinget

King Harald of Norway will reduce his royal duties going forward after spending the last few months on sick leave.

The King, 87, returned to work on 22 April after months on sick leave following an infection in Malaysia and permanent pacemaker insertion in Norway.

His Majesty will still undertake his constitutional duties as head of state, like holding Council of State meetings at the Royal Palace.

However, King Harald will reduce the number of engagements he partakes in due to his age.

The Royal Court has said the King is “happy to be back and resume his work.”
