King Felipe visits Canada

King Felipe VI was hosted by the Canadian Governor General last evening during his official visit.

King Felipe VI of Spain is in Canada this week. The King is accompanied by a delegation which includes First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Carlos Cuerpo, as well as the Secretary of State for Trade Amparo López Senovilla. Last evening, the Governor General, who represents King Charles III, hosted the Spanish King for a dinner at the official residence.

At Rideau Hall on Tuesday, King Felipe first held a meeting with the Canadian Governor General Mary Simon, followed by bilateral meetings with the respective delegations.

After the meetings, a dinner was held at Rideau Hall, where the Prime Minister was also in attendance, in honour of the King.

The aim of the three-day official visit is to strengthen cooperation in trade and economy as Canada seeks a new partnership with Europe. King Felipe will also travel to Toronto, Ontario.
