King Felipe of Spain attended the official dinner for MWC Barcelona 2026 in Barcelona.

The King attended the dinner at the National Art Museum of Catalonia on 1 March ahead of the fair that will be held from 2 to 5 March.

The official dinner is considered by many to be one of the most relevant events in world discussions on connectivity and the mobile industry.

His Majesty joined Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, the President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Salvador Illa, the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, and the Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Administration, Óscar López.

Ahead of the dinner, there were speeches and a tribute video to the MWC Barcelona organisation. The King, too, spoke and praised innovators.

“You, the innovators, have the means and capabilities to create, but you also have the responsibility to foresee risks and ensure that technology serves the common good. This is the only way to ensure that AI elevates us and strengthens our freedom, instead of limiting or replacing us,” he said.

Casa Real said about this year’s conference, “The 2026 edition of MWC Barcelona will focus on Artificial Intelligence and the evolution of 5G in its various applications, along with advances in robotics, the Internet of Things, and space networks, and their impact on society.”

King Felipe will inaugurate the MWC Barcelona 2026 on 2 March.
