While the British government is considering removing Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the line of succession, no decision has yet been made regarding Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

According to Roya Nikkhah of The Sunday Times, ministers confirmed that they have not decided if they will consider removing Andrew’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, from the line of succession.

Neither princess has been accused of any wrongdoing, and King Charles has continued to show his support for his nieces. He is said not to want them punished for the wrongdoings of their parents.

At present, Princess Beatrice is ninth in the line of succession, followed by her two daughters, Sienna and Athena. Eugenie is 12th, followed by her two sons, August and Ernest.

The government is said to be considering introducing legislation that would remove the former prince from the line of succession to succeed King Charles.

However, constitutional experts have said that legislation would have to be carefully worded to exclude Beatrice and Eugenie.

Nikkah wrote, “Andrew is unlikely to be removed from the line of succession until after the conclusion of all police investigations and government sources have acknowledged the ‘constitutional complexity’ of the matter. Constitutional experts say any legislation would need to explicitly exclude Beatrice and Eugenie, if that was the intention, pointing to the Abdication Act of 1936 in which Edward VIII declared he was renouncing the throne for himself and any future descendants.”

Andrew’s titles of Prince and Duke of York were removed in October 2025 after continued controversy regarding his friendship with convicted American paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. However, at present, he remains eighth in line to the throne behind Prince William and his children and Prince Harry and his children.

Andrew has continuously denied any wrongdoing and has never been convicted of any crime.
