King Felipe of Spain has attended the inauguration of the President of the Republic of Colombia, Abelardo de la Espriella.
This is the sixth time the King has attended a presidential inauguration in Colombia, the first being in 1998.

Upon his arrival at Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport in Cali, King Felipe was greeted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia, Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio, the Ambassador of Spain to the Republic of Colombia, Santiago Jiménez Martín, and other representatives from the Embassy of Spain.
The King received an hour guard before departing the airport.
At the Cali Cultural Centre, King Felipe met with Abelardo de la Espriella in the Oval Room, ahead of the inauguration.
The inauguration took place in the USC Arena. King Felipe was greeted there by the Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia, Rodrigo Pinzón, as well as by the President of the Senate of the Republic of Colombia, Honorio Henríquez, and the President of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Colombia, Nicolás Barguil.

Shortly before the ceremony, the King took part in a meeting of the Presidents of Argentina, Ecuador, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Chile, and Honduras, as well as the Vice Presidents of El Salvador and Guatemala.

During the ceremony, the President of the National Congress administered the oath of office to the President, followed by the presentation of the Presidential Sash. The Vice President also took the oath of office. Speeches were given by the President of the National Congress and the newly inaugurated President.
King Felipe headed back to the airport immediately following the ceremony.
