Queen Máxima paid a working visit to the Social Grocery Store De Ark in Amsterdam this morning.

This is an initiative of the Protestant Diaconie Amsterdam and functions as a supermarket and meeting place for Amsterdammers who are a bit tight on cash. It is intended as a supplement to the food bank and customers can choose products themselves. The project was a participant in the program Join in, together from Poverty by the Orange Fund of which Queen Máxima is patron.

The Queen has spoken with the initiators, including alderman Marjolein Moorman. After visiting the store herself, Queen Máxima also spoke to the volunteers and customers.
