King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden are currently in Paris to cheer on the Swedish athletes during the Olympic Games, and during a visit to the Olympic Village, the King tried out one of the famous cardboard beds.

The King and Queen visited the Swedish athletes in the Olympic Village and got to look at their accommodations, including the controversial cardboard beds many athletes have complained about.

Their Majesties arrived in France on 5 August and have met with Sweden’s medal winners and athletes throughout their time in Paris. They spent time in Sweden Arena where they met gold medal swimmer Sarah Sjöström.

They have attended many events to watch their countrymen battle it out with the world’s best athletes, including the final in men’s table tennis against China. Unfortunately for the royals, Sweden had to settle for silver.

The King is expected to attend the Closing Ceremony on 11 August. Queen Silvia’s attendance is uncertain as she had to travel to Belgium unexpectedly for family reasons.

King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia have appeared very happy to be at the Olympic Games to cheer on Swedish athletes, and it holds a special place in their hearts for another reason. The King and Queen met at the Summer Olympic Games in Munich in 1972.
