The most successful royal Olympians are from Greece, Norway, and the UAE.
King Constantine II of Greece:
The late King Constantine of Greece won a gold medal in the Dragon class (sailing) for his country. He served as the helmsman on the boat Nireus. The King competed in the 1960 Summer Olympic Games in Rome, Italy. It was the first gold medal for Greece since the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm, Sweden.
King Olav V of Norway:
Olav competed in the 1928 Summer Olympic Games in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The British-born King won gold in the six-metre sailing event. King Olav sailed on the boat Norna; the sailing competition was a mixed event, but no women qualified.
Sheikh Ahmed Al-Maktoum of Dubai:Sheikh Ahmed Al-Maktoum of Dubai competed in the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, and the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. He won gold for the United Arab Emirates in Athens in the double trap event (shooting).
