The King and Queen of the Netherlands have expressed sympathy with the victims and families of the shooting in Prague.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima released a condolence message after a gunman killed 15 on the campus of Charles University in the capital of the Czech Republic.
Their Majesties message, released in Dutch and English, said: “Prague mourns the victims who fell today at Charles University, a place where young people should feel safe. We feel connected to the Czech Republic on this dark day and sympathize with all the affected families and with the people who have been injured.”
Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg also sent a message to the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel.
His Royal Highness said: “It was with shock that the Grand Duchess and I learned of the news of the deadly shooting at the University of Prague. In these dark hours, it is important to us to express to you, on behalf of our compatriots and on our own behalf, our deep compassion for all those who have been affected by this tragedy. We assure you of our solidarity in the face of this indiscriminate act of violence.”
Fifteen people have died, and at least 24 have been injured after a man went on a rampage on his university campus. The culprit died on the scene, and the government does not believe it is connected to terrorism.
