King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and his wife, Queen Silvia, visited Jönköping County as part of their Jubilee tour through Sweden’s 21 counties.
Although the King will be admitted to the hospital on Monday for heart surgery, he felt well enough to continue his engagements this week.
The royal couple was received at Jönköping airport by Governor Helena Jonsson and her husband, Göran Johansson. Then, they visited the Kulturhuset SPIRA, which also had a photo exhibition of the King.
In the centre of Jönköping, they visited Magnus Ladulå’s place and unveiled a stone commemorating the visit. As they walked to the park, the Home Guard’s music choir Jönköping-Huskvarna played the newly composed jubilee march.
The King gave a speech in the park in which he said, “Here is an entrepreneurial ideal to be inspired by – the so-called “Gnosjö Spirit” – a spirit that prevails in the entire county! Entrepreneurship is not just a private matter for the owners but something that affects the entire village. That insight can be found here, and it is understood that it is one of the explanations for the strong business life.”
