Sultan of Oman received in Brunei

The Sultan of Oman was welcomed by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah at the Istana Nurul Iman in Bandar Seri Begawan.

History was made today as Sultan Haitham bin Tariq became the first Omani Sultan to pay a state visit to Brunei.

The Sultan was received by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in an official welcoming ceremony held at Istana Nurul Iman in Bandar Seri Begawan. The ceremonies included the playing of the national anthems and the inspection of a Guard of Honour.

It is a pleasure to be received this morning by Your Majesty, here in beautiful Brunei Darussalam. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude for your warm reception and generous hospitality extended to me and my delegation.

We are happy to be in Brunei Darussalam once again on this occasion, which stands as a reflection ofthe deep and enduring bonds between our two nations. We are committed to further strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation with a determination to launch a new and bright chapter in the history of the Omani- Brunei Darussalam relations.

We also would like to express our great satisfaction with the development of economic and investment relations between our nations, which is reflected, for example, by the Oman Brunei Investment Company. We hope that the company will seize and explore new investment opportunities in various sectors in both countries. We highly appreciate your Majesty’s interest and your government efforts in developing the economic partnership between our two countries. —Sultan Haitham bin Tariq 

Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, Sayyid, and Prince Abdul Mateen, among others, were also present. The three-day state visit is the first by an Omani Sultan since diplomatic relations were established in 1984.
