Grand Duke Guillaume V of Luxembourg has visited the Kalbermillen nature reserve.
It was his first visit since becoming the royal patron of the Hëllef fir d’Natur Foundation. The Grand Duke was accompanied by Minister Serge Wilmes and the President of the Foundation, Patrick Losch.

Grand Duke Guillaume learned more about the Foundation’s program to acquire more forest land to strengthen nature reserves, and he was presented with the Foundation’s program to reintroduce freshwater pearl mussels and river mussels into the Our River.
These mussels are an endangered species, and raising them is very complex. However, they play a vital role in improving the ecological quality of the Our River. They help preserve the river ecosystem through their high water-filtration capacity.
