First royals announced to attend Paris Olympic Games

Dusan Reljin / The Royal Court

The first royals have announced their attendance at the Paris Olympic Games this summer.

In August, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway will travel to France to cheer on the Norwegian athletes.

The Crown Prince Couple will be in Paris beginning on 6 August. No further information has been shared by the Royal Court.

Several royals are members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and are expected to be in attendance, but their participation is not yet confirmed. Royals who are part of the IOC include the Princess Royal, Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg and Prince Albert of Monaco.

The Summer Olympic Games occur in Paris from 26 July to 11 August. The Opening Ceremony will take place on 26 July along the Seine River – a first in Olympic history.
