King Felipe has been struck by another family tragedy.

The King’s first cousin, Juan Gómez-Acebo, died at the age of 54 in Mallorca.

Juan was the son of the late Infanta Pilar and nephew of King Juan Carlos. He died on 12 August in Mallorca from cancer.

His funeral was held in Madrid on 15 August.

This is the second death this year in the Spanish Royal Family. In March, Juan’s younger brother, Fernando, died at the age of 49.

Juan’s last public appearance was at the funeral of his younger brother at the Cathedral of the Armed Forces of Madrid.

Juan also held the title of Viscount de la Torre and was the second child of Infanta Pilar and Luis Gómez-Acebo, the 2nd Viscount of de la Torre. He was born on 6 December 1969.

He had one son with his American ex-wife.
