Princess Isabella visited by family at barracks

Princess Isabella of Denmark was visited by her family at her Army barracks over the weekend.

King Frederik, Queen Mary, Crown Prince Christian, Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent joined other families in visiting their loved ones who are currently undergoing military training.

The royals met Isabella’s fellow recruits and learned more about her day-to-day life.

The King, who inspected the troops, also wore his military uniform to visit his daughter, and the Royal Court released a photo of the father-daughter duo in their uniforms.

The images also revealed that Isabella’s last name on her uniform is ‘Fredensborg.’ It is a tradition in Denmark that recruits go by the name of their town; Isabella spent a lot of her life in Fredensborg on the island of Zealand at Fredensborg Palace.

Princess Isabella’s military service began in August at the Guard Hussar Regiment in Slagelse. Her older brother also trained in the same location. She is one of the first teenagers to take part in Denmark’s new mandatory 11-month military service.

The Princess refused the salary and allowances from the Danish military.
