Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway has received a new bunad as a gift from the Målselv municipality.

The Princess was gifted the Bardu and the Målselv bunad due to her military training at the Engineer Battalion at Skjold. As such, the royal wore her military uniform to the event.

Mayor Martin Nymo presented the bunad to the Princess on behalf of the Målselv municipal council. He also expressed how happy he was that the future queen trained in their area: “We in the municipality are very happy that the Princess chose to come to the Engineer Battalion at Skjold.”

Princess Ingrid Alexandra said after receiving the clothing, “A bunad symbolises belonging, and I am happy that I belong here a little after living here since January last year.”

Musical performances took place before the event ended.

The ceremony took place in the Municipal Building in Moen.

A bunad is a traditional Norwegian folk costume. Its design varies across regions of Norway.
