King Frederik has received harsh criticism for his speech during the Icelandic state visit to Denmark.

The Danish media has had harsh words for the King’s speech to welcome Icelandic President Halla Tómasdóttir.

BT called his speech forced and impersonal, while a royal podcast had other words to describe his speech.

During the “Royal Palace in the Scenes” podcast, presenter Mette Højen said King Frederik’s remarks were so choppy that it sounded like they had been through a meat grinder.

A royal expert, Jakob Steen Olsen, told the King to fire his speech writer after the debacle: “I don’t know who writes these speeches. It is a great mystery. But fire them and find someone else.”

King Frederik delivered his speech during the state dinner at Christiansborg Palace on 8 October.
