The new exhibition displays tableware from 1815 to the present day. It opens with a porcelain room, which is covered from top to bottom in blue and white tableware from the palace from 1815. It shows the Wilde Rose pattern and was acquired for the Paléet, which was Norway’s royal residence before the Royal Palace was completed. It consists of over 4,000 pieces and less than 10% is on display here.

The curators, Sandra Lorentzen and Kaja Hjort from the Royal Collections, said as an introduction, “Today we would like to draw attention to some of the objects, designers, factories and countries that have left their mark on the history and development of ceramics. The objects in the exhibition show the breadth of the material, from earthenware to porcelain, and in time from 19th century tableware to today’s contemporary ceramics. ”

The exhibition opens to the public today.
