Queen Camilla has revealed King Charles is doing “extremely well under the circumstances” after his cancer diagnosis and first treatment session.

While attending an event at Salisbury Cathedral on 7 November, the Queen said: “He is very touched by all of the letters and messages the public have been sending from everywhere.

“That’s very cheering.”

This was Camilla’s first royal engagement since the King’s cancer diagnosis was revealed on 5 February.

Buckingham Palace said the cancer was discovered following the operation King Charles had for a benign enlarged prostate.

The King has already begun treatment after doctors found the cancer early.

His Majesty has stepped back from public royal duties for the time being but will continue to work on matters of the state behind the scenes.
