RoyalFamily/X

Queen Camilla and the Duke of Edinburgh have been welcomed into the Order of the Thistle.

As part of the Royal Family’s traditional week in Scotland, the Order of the Thistle Service at St. Giles’ Cathedral takes place. This year, the ceremony welcomed the Queen and Duke.

King Charles, the Prince of Wales (known as The Duke of Rothesay when in Scotland) and the Duchess of Edinburgh were also in attendance at the service. The King has been a member of the Order of the Thistle since 1977 and William joined their ranks in 2012.

The royals wore the traditional green velvet robes with the order’s insignia and white plumed hats.

The Royal Family later released an image on social media of the King, Prince of Wales, Queen Camilla and Duke of Edinburgh to mark the occasion. It was taken after the service at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

The Order of the Thistle is the highest order of chivalry in Scotland. The Order of the Thistle service takes place every other year in Edinburgh.
