The Princess Royal visited the United Arab Emirates in her role as President of The Mission to Seafarers (MtS).

The MtS provides support to seafarers who face danger every day and works in over 200 ports in 50 countries.

The Princess Royal visited the DP World’s Jebel Ali Port in Dubai, which is the busiest port in the Middle East. While there, she witnessed a demonstration of a container transfer from the ship to the shore. After this, she attended a Women in Shipping and Trading Conference Panel Discussion.

She also opened the new Donnelly Lines facilities at Al-Minhad Air Base. The new facility is named after Sergeant William ‘Billy’ Donnelly, a navigator who died on 14 February 1943 after his aircraft had an oil leak.

At the end of the day, she attended a dinner hosted by representatives from the MtS.
