The Princess Royal is in hospital in Bristol after an incident on the Gatocombe Park estate.
Princess Anne, 73, sustained minor injuries and has a concussion.
She remains at Southmead Hospital in Bristol as a precautionary measure and is expected to make a full recovery.
The exact cause of her injuries is unconfirmed but her medical team said that the head injuries are consistent with potential impact from a horse’s head or legs.
King Charles has stayed closely informed. Buckingham Palace said the King “joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to the Princess for a speedy recovery.”
Due to her injuries, the Princess Royal will not take part in the State Banquet for the Japanese State Visit this week.
