Kensington Palace has announced the Princess of Wales will host the “Together at Christmas” Carol Service at Westminster Abbey on December 6.

It will be the fourth edition of the carol service and is sponsored by the Royal Foundation. It is a co-production between The Royal Foundation and BBC Studios Events Productions. Members of the Royal Family will join Catherine for the service focusing on love and empathy.

Kensington Palace said: “Her Royal Highness wanted to celebrate the many people supporting those in need – individuals who have inspired, counselled, comforted, and above all else shown that love is the greatest gift we can receiveThis theme takes inspiration from the Christmas story which encourages us to consider the experiences of others and the important human need of giving and receiving empathy.”

Ahead of the service, young performers from Restore the Music will entertain the 1,600 guests who have supported their communities through volunteering. Westminster Abbey’s decorations this year are inspired by nature. The Abbey’s renowned choir will perform carols; Paloma Faith, Olivia Dean and Gregory Porter will also perform.

‘Together at Christmas’ will air on Christmas Eve on ITV1 and ITVX.
