The Prince of Wales will continue to prioritise his wife and children as the Princess of Wales continues to recover from abdominal surgery.
Prince William cleared his diary to support his wife in her recovery but has since returned to light royal duties as the announcement of the King’s cancer was made.
Although the heir to the throne will be taking on royal duties, including an investiture and gala event, his family will remain a priority, according to Rebecca English of the Daily Mail.
“The Prince has always made clear that his priority is to support his wife and family for the time being – and he did not put a timescale on that. He will make a return to duties on Wednesday but you should not expect to see him again for a bit after that,” a source told English.
He has no other engagements planned for this week and will be home with Catherine and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, as the half-term holiday begins next week.
The King is said to be supportive of his son’s decision.
William’s team at Kensington Palace is in discussions with King Charles’s team at Buckingham Palace to discuss the events the heir needs to attend on behalf of his father.
Buckingham Palace said the King will not attend any public duties while in treatment but will still work on matters of the state privately.
