The Prince of Wales has said he’s “shocked and saddened” to hear of the death of his former nanny’s stepson in the New Orleans terror attack.

In a personal statement issued on social media, the Prince said he was “deeply saddened” to hear of the death of Edward Pettifer, the stepson of his former nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke.

The statement said: “Catherine and I have been shocked and saddened by the tragic death of Ed Pettifer.

“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Pettifer family and all those innocent people who have been tragically impacted by this horrific attack.”

The post was personally signed “W” by the Prince of Wales.

Tiggy Legge-Bourke was a nanny to young Prince William and Prince Harry. Harry is godfather to Tiggy’s younger son.

Pettifer, 31, was one of 14 killed when a terrorist rammed into crowds in a pickup truck in the early hours of New Year’s Day in the famous French Quarter of the Louisiana city.
