The Prince and Princess of Wales were joined by the Edinburghs and Zara Tindall in hosting a garden party at the Palace.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and Zara Tindall, on behalf of King Charles III, hosted the second garden party of the year this afternoon at Buckingham Palace.

The royals welcomed some eight thousand guests to Buckingham Palace with today’s backdrop celebrating frontline workers from across the United Kingdom.

Throughout the year, sponsors — such as Lord-Lieutenants, Societies and Associations, Government Departments, Local Government, the Services, the Church and other Faiths — nominate guests around the country who have shown distinguished service or have made meritorious contributions in their respective communities. These include volunteers, care workers, charities, public servants, and those from the emergency services.

Around 30,000 guests are invited annually, who are free to eat and drink the allotted 27,000 cups of tea, 20,000 sandwiches, and 20,000 slices of cake. Those invited are also welcome to stroll around the beautiful Palace Gardens.

Garden Parties are an important way for members of the royal family to speak with a broad range of people from all walks of life, recognising their positive impact on society.

A couple of notable guests who were invited were Rhian Mannings, founder of 2wish, as well as Sam Stables, founder of We Are Farming Minds. Both have mental health charities, which Prince William previously visited.
