Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons, said: “It was very moving to watch King Charles unveil our traditional gift to his mother, the late Her Majesty. We wanted to present something durable, beautiful and emblematic of the esteem in which we held our Queen on the occasion of her Platinum Jubilee – and I believe these graceful lamps do just that. As they shine in our workplace, we fondly remember the abiding and guiding light they have been to our country – and indeed the world – over the past 70 years, and the gratitude we owe.”
