To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of NATO, the Band of the Welsh Guards played the NATO hymn during the Changing of the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace this morning.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was founded on 4 April 1949 as a collective security system. The member states have agreed to defend each other against attacks from third parties. There are currently 32 member countries, with Sweden being the most recent member, as they joined in March 2024.

The hymn is an instrumental piece which was composed in 1989 by André Reichling. It was formally adopted in 2018.
