King Charles III and Queen Camilla have gone on a State Visit to France.
The King and Queen arrived in France on Wednesday as they posted a personal message on X, which read, “We are so looking forward to joining you in Paris and Bordeaux, as we embark on our first State Visit as King and Queen to France, a country for which we both have the greatest love and admiration. We will celebrate the special bond between our two countries and all that your wonderful country has to offer. À bientôt France! -Charles R. and Camilla R.”
During a formal welcome at the Arc de Triomphe, the King and Queen were treated to a flypast and the King Charles symbolically lit the eternal, in memory of those who died in the First and Second World Wars.
That night President Macron hosted them for a State Banquet at the historic Palace of Versailles.
During his speech, the King spoke of the firm friendship between France and the United Kingdom.
The following morning, King Charles planted a tree at the British Residence in Paris, following a tradition set by his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
King Charles then travelled to Senate, where he held a speech, as Queen Camilla travelled with Mrs Macron to the Bibliotheque Nationale de France.
In the afternoon, they teamed up to meet young people to hear about the opportunities that sport has offered them. They also visited the flower market and 19m, where students can engage with traditional textile and artisan manufacturing.
They also visited Notre Dame, which was hit by a devastating fire in 2019 to meet with firefighters and the craftspeople, who are working hard to restore the cathedral to its former glory.
