First postbox with King Charles’s cypher unveiled

MOD Crown Copyright

The first postbox with the royal cypher of King Charles has been unveiled.

The Royal Mail officially installed the emblem on the first postbox on High Street in Great Cambourne on 12 July.

The Royal Mail has also begun applying it to the doors of their vehicles.

All new and replacement postboxes will have the emblem, but existing mailboxes will retain the cypher of the monarch from the time it was installed.

Mailboxes began carrying the monarch’s cypher during the reign of Queen Victoria, close to 175 years ago.
