The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have opened their Montecito home to friends who have been forced to evacuate due to the raging wildfires in Southern California.

People magazine confirmed that the Duke and Duchess have opened their homes to those evacuating.

Their foundation, Archewell, is working to determine the best ways to assist those in need. Harry and Meghan are also said to be working with World Central Kitchen for relief efforts and have donated clothing and items for children.

They released a statement on their Sussex.com website regarding the fires and listing ways people could help.

Fires in Los Angeles began on 7 January and have destroyed much of the Pacific Palisades area with over 100,00 forced to leave their homes. At least 11 have died with that number expected to rise.

The Duke and Duchess live in Montecito, which is around 90 miles north of Los Angeles, in Santa Barbara County.
