The Duchess of Sussex has opened up about her health struggles after giving birth.
On her new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, the Duchess revealed she suffered from post-partum preeclampsia.
In the debut episode, she spoke to Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd about motherhood and the struggles that come with it.
Both Meghan and Herd suffered from the condition, with the Duchess saying, “We both had very similar experiences — though we didn’t know each other at the time — with postpartum, and we both had preeclampsia. Postpartum preeclampsia.”
She continued: “It’s so rare and so scary. And you’re still trying to juggle all of these things, and the world doesn’t know what’s happening quietly. And in the quiet, you’re still trying to show up for people – mostly for your children — but those things are huge medical scares.”
The Duchess of Sussex did not specify if she had the condition with Prince Archie, Princess Lilibet or both.
Preeclampsia is a life-threatening condition with high blood pressure and protein in the urine.
