The seven-year-old Crown of Bhutan had an important task to fulfil in Thimphu.
Accompanied by his grandmother, Queen Mother Tshering Yangdoen Wangchuck, Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel attended the ceremony to install the golden pinnacle over the central tower of an important monastery in Thimphu.
The Chagri monastery was built over 400 years ago by the founder of the Bhutanese state, Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel and was the first Bhutanese monastic order to be established. The installation of a golden pinnacle is an important part of the restoration of the monastery, which started in 2016.
The monastery is located on a cliff and is accessible by a steep mountain trail.
