Princess Astrid of Belgium has provided an update on her mother’s health, Queen Paola.

After attending the King’s Day Te Deum in Brussels alongside the Royal Family, the Princess spoke to the press about her mother’s health and provided an encouraging update.

Princess Astrid told Belgian journalist Wim Dehandschutter, “She is still in the South of France. It was too difficult to move. I am not going to see her right now. We are going to celebrate Christmas together. It is not too serious.”

Queen Paola, 87, fell earlier this month and injured her foot, putting her on rest for four weeks.

King Albert, 90, attended the Te Deum at St Michael and St Gudula Cathedral without his wife. He was joined by his son, Prince Laurent, his daughter, Princess Astrid, and her husband, Prince Lorenz.
