King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan presided over the consecration of a Buddhist temple.
The King was joined by his father, the Fourth Druk Gyalpo; his wife, Queen Jetsun Pema; the Queen Mothers; and other members of the Bhutanese royal family.

The consecration ceremony of Pelri Dorjidhen Tsulakhang in Nobgang, Punakha took place yesterday. The ceremony was presided over by His Holiness the Je Khenpo, the leader of the Buddhist faith in Bhutan. The ceremony was attended by senior officials and the local people.
Pelri Dorjidhen Tsulakhang dates from the 18th century and was built by the 9th Je Khenpo, Sakya Rinchen. It became an important religious centre. The village developed around the temple, and hermitages were established there.
The renovation was carried out under the Nobgang Cultural Site Stewardship Plan under the guidance of Queen Mother Tshering Yangdoen Wangchuck.
