Countess Athena of Monpezat will be confirmed next month.
She will be confirmed on 2 May 2026 in Washington, DC.
The confirmation will be officiated by pastor and former minister Esben Lunde Larsen at Georgetown Lutheran Church.
The confirmation will be celebrated privately.
Countess Athenia is the younger child and only daughter of Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark. She had two elder half-brothers, Count Nikolai and Count Felix, from her father’s first marriage, and one full brother, Count Henrik. She is the youngest grandchild of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.
The family currently lives in the United States because Prince Joachim is the defence industry attaché at the Danish Embassy.
