Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden visited Uppsala Cathedral to learn more about the church and its history.

The Crown Princess received a tour of the church building, including the crypt where King Gustav I and his three consorts are buried. The King, who is buried in the Vasa Chapel, was the founder of modern Sweden.

The study visit helped the future queen to learn a more in-depth history of the cathedral.

The visit took place on 25 March, but the Royal Court waited to release the images until Palm Sunday, the first day of Holy Week.

Uppsala Cathedral hosted many coronations of Swedish monarchs during medieval times; however, Sweden no longer holds coronations but rather enthronements at Stockholm Palace.

Uppsala Cathedral hosts around 100,000 people annually for services and concerts. An additional 500,000 people visit as tourists.
