Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stéphanie to visit Spain

The Maison du Grand-Duc has announced a visit to Spain next week.

It was reported earlier in the month that planning had begun for a visit by the Grand Ducal Couple, Guillaume and Stéphanie, to Spain in March. The Grand Duke ascended to the throne following his father’s abdication in October 2025.

Earlier today, 26th February, the Maison du Grand-Duc officially announced that the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg will pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Spain on the 5th and 6th of March. The two-day visit comes at the invitation of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia.

The announcement read in part,

Their Royal Highnesses will be accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Xavier Bettel, the Minister of Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, and the Minister of Finance, Gilles Roth

During their stay, Their Royal Highnesses and the members of the Government will be received by Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain. The Grand Duke and the ministers will also hold talks with the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, as well as with the President of the Congress of Deputies, Francina Armengol, and the President of the Senate, Pedro Rollán. The programme will also include meetings of an economic and academic nature.

The Grand Ducal Couple are expected to be received by the Spanish King and Queen, with honours, at the Royal Palace in Madrid, followed by a luncheon.

The announcement on Thursday also referenced that the Grand Duke will deliver a speech at IE University (Instituto de Empresa), which will focus on the “challenges facing Europe.”
