King Willem-Alexander has sworn in the new cabinet following the elections last year.

The new cabinet will be led by Rob Jetten of D66. He is the first openly gay Prime Minister of the Netherlands.

In the general election, the centrist D66 and right-wing PVV ended up jointly being the largest parties, with 26 seats each. Rob Jetten set out to form a cabinet, which ended up being a minority cabinet with the centre-right VVD and the conservative CDA.

All the ministers and secretaries of state were sworn in by the King, except those who are continuing in their posts. They could choose between taking the oath and making a promise. The ceremony took place in the famous Oranjezaal at Huis Ten Bosch.
