Queen Mary attends European Championship

Queen Mary of Denmark attended the European Championship in men’s handball in Herning.

The Queen was at the final between Denmark and Germany at the Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning.

The Queen shared a photo watching the game on Instagram at halftime and said, “In place together with thousands of other Danes in Herning for a nerve-racking finale, where it’s now half time. Come on Denmark.”

Her Majesty cheered on the Danes to victory and presented them with the gold medal and trophy at the end of the game. Denmark defeated Germany 40-30.

Queen Mary also presented the silver and bronze medals to Germany and Croatia, respectively.

Her Majesty also wished the Danish team congratulations on the Royal House’s social media accounts, writing, “Congratulations on the great European Championship gold 🥇 and big congratulations on the fact that the men’s team can now call themselves Olympic, European Championship and World Cup gold winners. This is an absolutely fantastic performance.”
