Queen Mary of Denmark visited the pyramids of Giza while in Egypt, and the Royal House released photos from her journey.

The Queen travelled to Egypt to attend the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum alongside royals from across Europe and the Middle East.

During her trip, Queen Mary visited the pyramid complex in Giza on the morning of 2 November.

The Danish Royal House shared images of the Queen exploring the inside and outside of the pyramids as the sun rose, including the Sphinx and the new museum itself.

Inside the museum, she joined Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen for a tour that included viewing the tomb mask of Tutankhamun.

The pyramid complex contains nine pyramids, and Queen Mary toured the Pyramid of Khufu (also known as the Pyramid of Cheops), which is the largest and the only of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World that is still standing.
