Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway will undergo pulmonary rehabilitation.
The rehabilitation will last for one month and will take place in Norway, commencing at the beginning of October.
The Royal Court announced that she will not be carrying out official engagements in October, with a few planned exceptions, such as the dinner for the representatives of the Storting at the Royal Palace on 23 October.
She will resume her official duties in November.
In March 2025, the Royal Court revealed that the Crown Princess’s chronic pulmonary fibrosis had progressed. Mette-Marit’s symptoms are getting worse and affecting her ability to do her royal duties.
In a press release, they announced: “The Crown Princess has daily symptoms and ailments that affect her ability to perform her duties. The Crown Princess needs more rest, and her daily routine changes more quickly than before. This means that changes to her official schedule may occur more frequently and at shorter notice than we are used to.
“The Crown Princess has a strong desire to continue working, and therefore, we will organise her official program in the future in the best possible way so that her health and work can be combined.”
Crown Princess Mette-Marit was diagnosed with chronic pulmonary fibrosis in 2018, with the Royal Court announcing that it could “temporarily affect the performance of her official program.”
