Princess Marie was back in Denmark recently and made a stop at Villaen in Frederiksberg.
She met with members of Positivgruppen and Patientforeningen, two groups that focus on supporting people living with HIV.
Positivgruppen has been around since the mid-80s. It started as a space for gay and bisexual men dealing with HIV and later opened up to others. Volunteers run the group, and they’ve been based at Villaen since 1987. They organise events, offer support, and try to keep things welcoming.
During the visit, Princess Marie spoke with volunteers and longtime members. A few local officials were there, too. The group is marking its 40th year, so the timing felt meaningful.
Marie lives in Washington, D.C. these days with Prince Joachim and their kids. Her visit helped shine a light on the work these organisations continue to do, quietly and consistently.
