Queen Rania of Jordan visited Jabal Al Lweibdeh ahead of Amman Design Week.

The Queen travelled to the neighbourhood on Tuesday with local entrepreneurs and viewed preparations for Amman Design Week (ADW), which is set to launch next month.

Her Majesty first stopped by a coworking community, BLDR Space, to meet Jordanian entrepreneurs and startup owners. She learned about how they started their businesses and discussed changes in workplace culture in the Kingdom.

She also spent time at the ADW venue, Darat Abu Adnan, which was built for the Abu Hassan family in the 1950s. The restored home, one of the few remaining heritage homes in the area, will host several ADW events in the future.

After touring the restored home and viewing completed installations, she checked on the progress of two installations in its front garden. Later, she visited a weaving workshop and spoke to the attendees.

While there, she spoke to ADW Co-directors, Bisher Tabba and Sarah Hejazi, who explained the progress they have been making and final preparations ahead of next month’s event.

Queen Rania is the patron of this year’s event. It will take place from 2 to 17 October under the theme ‘Accumulations.’

The ADW was founded by Her Majesty in 2016 and “aims to showcase the designs and talents of local, regional, and international designers, and establish Amman as a regional hub for innovation and expression.”
