The Princess of Asturias was presented with the Grand Cross of Naval Merit, white insignia, during a ceremony at the Naval Academy in Marín. King Felipe handed his daughter the medal in front of cadets, officers, and guests, including the royal family.
Princess Leonor wore her naval uniform and stood in formation as the cadets took their oath. Like other officers in her class, Leonor took part in all of the ceremonies and traditions. Queen Letizia and Infanta Sofía were also there, seated nearby.
After the medal was awarded, King Felipe gave his daughter a quick hug. It was a short, unplanned moment, but it stood out in a ceremony otherwise defined by structure and formality.

Her role in events like this is part of a longer process. These appearances help her gain experience and show that the monarchy remains connected to Spain’s institutions. It’s not just about tradition. It’s about learning what the job really involves.
