Two towns in Castile and León received a visit from King Felipe and Queen Letizia as part of ongoing efforts to support wildfire recovery. The couple spent time in Galende, in Zamora province, and Carucedo, in León, where they met with local teams and saw some of the damage firsthand.
In Galende, they walked with local officials through areas that had been ravaged by fire. The fires left behind blackened trees and dry soil. People shared updates and pointed out where cleanup crews had started working. The King asked about coordination. The Queen listened quietly.
Carucedo came next. Officials explained to Felipe and Letizia how the fires had approached the area and described the steps taken to protect it. Queen Letizia asked about preservation efforts and listened to concerns about long-term risks.

The visit focused on understanding the situation and offering support. The King spoke with firefighters about how the response was organised. The Queen spent time with volunteers and residents. Before leaving, they thanked those who had helped during the emergency.
More visits are planned. Felipe and Letizia are expected to travel to Galicia and Extremadura next. These are places where similar recovery is underway and communities are rebuilding.
