Queen Máxima of the Netherlands has hosted a tour of Rotterdam for the partners of the NATO leaders who attended the summit in The Hague today.
They were joined by the mayor of Rotterdam, Carola Schouten, who also welcomed the group to the city. The tour started at the Depot of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. They went all the way to the roof to view the skyline of Rotterdam before enjoying a tour of the Depot. General Director Ina Klaassen and Director of Collections and Research Sandra Kisters led the group to several compartments where the collection is stored. They also visited the exhibition “The stories we tell”, where artist Susanna Inglada gave an explanation of her work in this exhibition.

After the Depot, the group headed to the water to sail on a ship of the Royal Spido. They viewed Rotterdam’s hotspots such as the Euromas, the SS Rotterdam and the Erasmus Bridge. On board, they had lunch made by 2-star chef Erik van Loo, his son Julien van Loo, and the team of Parkheuvel Rotterdam.

Carola Schouten later said, “We had a wonderful afternoon together in our beautiful Rotterdam! I sincerely hope that the discussions held in The Hague will help us with the global challenges we face. As Rotterdam, we were able to make a modest contribution to this important NATO Summit. I am proud of that.”
