The Prince who hopes to be President of the International Olympic Committee

A Middle Eastern royal is on the shortlist to become the next President of the International Olympic Committee.

Prince Feisal of Jordan, the brother of King Abdullah, is one of seven candidates who will compete to succeed the current President of the IOC, Thomas Bach.

The Prince officially submitted his candidacy on Sunday, 15 September.

Other candidates are Lord Sebastian Coe, Kirsty Coventry, Johan Eliasch, David Lappartient, Juan Antonio Samaranch, and Morinari Watanabe.

The election will take place during the 143rd IOC session from 18-21 March 2025 in Greece. The winner’s term will begin on 24 June 2025.

His Royal Highness has been a member of the International Olympic Committee since 2010 and has held membership on the Executive Board. He has also been the President of the Jordan Olympic Committee since 2003.
