Queen Rania has invited Europeans to visit Jordan.
While in Italy to tour the ‘Jordan: Dawn of Christianity’ exhibition at the Palazzo della Cancelleria in Rome, Her Majesty invited Europeans to her country to experience its rich heritage.
The Queen took the opportunity to invite people to visit the Middle Eastern nation: “Jordan is the land of hospitality – anyone who has visited us will attest to the warmth and graciousness of its people. But Jordan is also steeped in history. Everywhere you turn, there are echoes of the ancient civilisations that once called our land home.”
She concluded: “With such a remarkable blend of cultures and traditions, our country truly has something for everyone. Jordan is an experience you won’t want to miss.”

Queen Rania joined Italian First Lady Laura Mattarella on a tour of the exhibit that features 90 artefacts from more than 30 different Jordanian archaeological sites. The purpose is to focus on Jordan’s historical significance to Christianity and to highlight 30 years of diplomatic relations between Jordan and the Holy See.
Visitors to Palazzo della Cancelleria will see displays from the birth of Christ to the Byzantine and Islamic Empires. It also shows Christianity’s evolution to present-day Jordan with the Hashemites on the throne. Artefacts from Christ’s Baptism Site, Mount Nebo (memorial to Moses), Tel Mar Elias (birthplace of Prophet Elijah), a shrine to Mary (the mother of Jesus) and Machaerus (the site of the martyrdom of John the Baptist).
The month-long ‘Jordan: Dawn of Christianity’ exhibition at the Palazzo della Cancelleria counts King Abdullah as its patron. It is a collaboration between Jordan’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Jordan Tourism Board, and the Vatican.
